What is a Trading Strategy?

Trading strategy is a predefined set of rules for making trading decisions. Used by innumerable traders, firms and fund managers to facilitate them to make prudent decisions, trading strategy is governed by a stringent set of rules and regulations. The system operates within parameters known by the trader, and these parameters are trustworthy based on back testing (history) and forward testing (real world market studies).

You can execute a trading strategy either manually (yourself) or automatically (computer). Please remember that you would require a great deal of expertise if you decide to go in for the former.

However, please keep in mind the following, amongst others, before developing a strategy for yourself: Risk, Return, Volatility, Timeframe, Style, Correlation with the market and it methods, etc. Once you have developed a strategy it is advisable to go in for a historical analysis of the same. Though this is no guarantee for the strategy doing well in the future, it will definitely give you certain level of confidence to go with it.
